just look at my tumblr

has anyone else ever met someone new and been asked “so what kinda stuff are you into?” or “what kind of music do you like?” or “what are you hobbies?” and the only answer you need or can even think of is “jut look at my tumblr”?

really, if i could just hand them a nicely-bound categorized print copy of my tumblog, they’d pretty much get all they need to know about me.

so i think we need a word for this. instead of having to say “look at my tumblr.” we need a one-word verb that means the action of learning about someone’s life through their tumblr.

tumblr introduction. tumbleduction? tumblrduction? tumblquaintance?

i am delighted to make your tumblquaintance, sir.

i dunno. too many syllables.

its 9:34 on friday morning. its snowing, just a nice light snow. i had my rock music class at 8. went pretty well. coffee is my best friend. i find it funny that after having class, drinking a couple cups of coffee, and getting the usual morning busy work done on the computer already, that my suitemate is only just now getting up and showering. and to think that that was me every day last semester, some days even as late as noon.

how’s everybody doing today?

A year in a life.

Madeline Schichtel recorded a tiny video every day for a year, cut each day down to a second and produced what you see above: a glimpse of moments big, small, intimate and cinematic.

This reminds me a little of those flashbacks people in movies always see before they die. It also lends a sense of how quickly life moves, lending bigger context to the digital generation’s compulsion to archive it.

Also, isn’t this so much better than going through somebody’s scrapbook while waiting for them to come back with the goddamn coffee?

this is pretty cool, and i applaud her commitment. dunno if i could have done it.

Production makes the difference.

If you were pitching this concept to a client, it might sound kind of boring. “We’ll have people reacting to their tax refunds in slow motion.”

But Jackson Hewitt proves that the right casting and production can make the most basic concept super fun and loveable.

Tough day working inside the camera

adverve:

While it might not be equipped with Instagram on board, Dennis Manarchy’s camera is big enough that he could eat lunch inside it.

this is fantastic, reminds me of the simple science behind Abelardo Morell’s Camera Obscure

laineyestrada asked: I'm pretty sure cheekable isn't a word. What does that even mean?

oh i’m quite sure it is..

cheekable (adj) - to possess desirable qualities for being cheeked (see cheek (v) or cheeked (v)) ; possible to be engaged in cheek touching by another
